Tricky Mickey

What:
Since it’s inception in 2001, One Group Mind’s teams have been performing long form improvised pieces across the country. In 2008, OGM will be opening their first theater in Chicago’s West Loop. The theater's philosophy is based on the concept that recognizing types of expansion is the basis for long form improvisation, not establishing a predetermined structure. Tricky Mickey, an OGM Resident Team, is composed of several teachers, coaches, and alum of One Group Mind’s training center. Together for over 4 years, Tricky Mickey performs a version of the Expansion Tree, One Group Mind's signature long form piece. Tricky draws from several different formulas including The Harold (as taught by IO's Del Close and Liz Allen), the Deconstruction and the Movie (as taught by Miles Stroth), as well as the Soupy, The Python, Trio, Zumpf, and more. Coached by a 6 year member of ImprovOlympic’s legendary House Team, Valhalla, Tricky Mickey has been recognized on a national level for their unique method of seamlessly transitioning from scene to scene, while maintaining a watchful eye on the piece’s meaning as a whole. Their piece can only be described as dynamic, as Tricky uses technique only taught through One Group Mind to manipulate the piece’s speed, presentation, and intensity.
